Zimbabwe has agreed to allow Zesco , Zambia’s state power utility, to draw additional water from the Kariba Dam to allow it to sustain electricity generation after the company exhausted its 2025 allocation.
The decision follows a request by Zambian Energy Minister Makozo Chikote at a joint ministerial meeting on energy cooperation in Harare on 20 October. The meeting was to discuss water management at the Kariba Dam, which is jointly administered by the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA).
