Moyo outlined key investment targets in Zimbabwe’s energy sector, including plans for more competitive electricity tariffs designed to attract private capital. He said: “Zimbabwe is targeting universal electricity access by 2030. Current estimates from the National Electrification Strategy indicate that 41 per cent of the population had access to electricity in 2024. The Government plans to increase this to 100 per cent by 2030. This will involve connecting an additional 1.9 million households to the grid at an annual rate of 320 000 households. Rural and underserved areas, involving 200 000 households, will receive standalone solar systems. A flagship initiative, the Presidential Rural Solarisation Scheme, aims to equip over one million rural homes with 1 kW solar systems by 2030.”
