Wind and solar generated a record of 17 per cent of US electricity in 2025

A report from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) states that in 2025, electricity from wind power and utility-scale solar power has increased to form 17 per cent of generation in the USA, up from less than 1 per cent in 2005.

In 2025, wind and solar power together generated over 760 TWh, 88 TWh more than in 2024. Wind power generated 464 TWh, 3 per cent more than in 2024, while utility-scale solar power generated 296 TWh, 34 per cent more than in 2024.
