Wärtsilä has announced that it has won a €292 million contract to supply engines for a power plant to support data centre developments in the USA. The order was placed by Liberty Energy , based in Denver, Colorado.
The delivery of the equipment to the site is scheduled to begin in 2029 and continue through 2030.
Wärtsilä will supply its 34SG natural gas-powered units, capable of operating in high-temperature environments. Wärtsilä said that these units have low water consumption.
Ron Gusek, CEO of Liberty Energy, said: “AI data centre growth is accelerating demand for next-generation on-site power infrastructure. Wärtsilä’s engine technology will strengthen our integrated power platform, enhancing our ability to deliver reliable, high-efficiency power generation to meet the demanding requirements of advanced computing environments.”
