Vestas has announced that it is introducing the new V182-7.2 MW wind turbine, built on the EnVentus platform. Vestas said that the V182-7.2 MW will increase annual energy production (AEP) by 6 per cent and lower the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) compared to the V172-7.2 MW, dependent on site conditions.

The new turbine will have a larger rotor while maintaining the same rating as its predecessor, with a rotor-to-rating ratio with a specific rating of 277 W/m2, improving the turbine’s capacity factor by up to 2 per cent compared to the V172-7.2 MW. This enables a greater share of power generation in lower wind speeds during periods when electricity prices are typically higher, improving capture prices by up to 3 per cent.
