Following last week’s Russian attacks, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that three Ukrainian nuclear power plants have resumed normal operations and are operating at full capacity. Damaged high-voltage power lines have been restored.
The three nuclear power plants – Khmelnytskyi (2 GW), Rivne (2.6 GW), and South Ukraine (2.85 GW) – have returned to normal, and nearly all units are operating at full capacity, with only one unit running at reduced capacity.
At the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, IAEA staff report daily military actions by the Russian military, potentially threatening the integrity of the facility. The IAEA has also reported that it has sent additional personnel to the Chernobyl site to conduct a comprehensive safety assessment of the damaged New Safe Confinement after an earlier Russian drone strike.
