Ukrenergo has announced that it expects to connect at least 1 GW of high-flexibility power generation capacity, including gas engines and gas turbines, before the onset of winter.
Oleskii Brecht, CEO of Ukrenergo, said: “In addition, at least 0.5 GW of energy storage systems (ESS) could be connected within the same timeframe. My forecast for this year is that we’ll have at least 1 GW of high-flexibility capacity by the start of the heating season. That’s the minimum.” He added that as mechanisms for developing distributed generation and energy storage improve, these numbers are likely to increase.
