Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), via its wholly owned subsidiary TNB Repair and Maintenance, has won a €150 million seven-year contract from the Kuwait Ministry and Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy for maintenance works at the Sabiya Power Generation and Water Distillation Plant in Kuwait.

The contract, awarded through a joint venture with Kuwait-based Al Dhow Engineering, will cover maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the plant, which is located 65 km from Kuwait City.

The plant consists of four dual-fuelled oil- and gas-fired units with a combined total capacity of 299.4 MW.

Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, President and CEO of TNB, said that the agreement demonstrates confidence in the joint venture’s capabilities. He said: “This contract aligns with TNB’s mission to be a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, both in Malaysia and internationally. Beyond Kuwait, our global footprint extends to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Cambodia.”
