TAQA and EWEC reach financial closure of Al Dhafra CCGT

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) have achieved financial closure for the €850 million 1 W Al Dhafra gas-fired power plant.

Construction has already started and is being developed by TAQA, which owns 100 per cent of both the project company and will build, own, and operate the facility. TAQA and EWEC signed a 24-year PPA in April 2025.

TAQA said that the Al Dhafra plant will provide flexible baseload power, supporting the integration of renewable energy into the grid.
