Talen Energy has announced it has signed agreements to acquire two CCGT plants for a total of £3.5 billion.

It has agreed to acquire the 1105 MW Moxie Freedom Energy Centre (Moxie) in Pennsylvania from Caithness Energy and the 1875 MW Guernsey Power Station in Ohio from Caithness Energy and BlackRock.

The Moxie and Guernsey transactions are both expected to close in Q4 2025. Each transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.

Mac McFarland, President and CEO of Talen, said: “This acquisition enhances Talen’s fleet by selectively adding modern, highly efficient baseload H-class CCGTs in Talen’s key markets.”
