According to data from GlobalData , Türkiye’s renewable power generation capacity will reach 38.2 GW by 2035, representing an annual growth rate of 17.1 per cent from 2024 to 2035.
GlobalData also estimates that Türkiye’s annual power generation will grow annually by 8.6 per cent over the same period, reach 213.5 TWh by 2035.
Attaurrahman Ojindaram Saibasan, senior power analyst at GlobalData, said that the country’s increasing energy demand was driven by a combination of growing GDP and population growth. He said: “To overcome the challenge, Türkiye has placed focus on nuclear and renewable energy. Within the renewable energy segment, solar PV accounted for 51.3 per cent of the total renewable capacity, and onshore wind accounted for 32.9 per cent in 2024.”
Türkiye aims to quadruple its wind and solar capacity, planning to achieve 120 GW by 2035.
