Summit and GE sign 22-year PPA for 583 MW gas power plant in Bangladesh

Summit and GE Power have announced that they will co-develop Summit Meghnaghat II, a 583 MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant at Meghnaghat, near Dhaka, Bangladesh. The announcement follows the signing of a 22-year PPA between Summit Maghnaghat II Power Company Limited (SMIIPCL), a subsidiary of Summit Group, and the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). SMIIPCL also signed several other agreements, with the Government of Bangladesh, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), Bangladesh Petroleum Company (BPC), and Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited.

The power plant is scheduled to be operational by 2022.

GE Power will provide a turnkey solution for the Summit Meghnaghat II power project, and is responsible for the design of the facility, supply and installation of the equipment and commissioning works. The equipment being provided by GE includes one 9HA.01 gas turbine, one HRSG, one steam turbine generator and associated systems, as well as balance of plant solutions. Additionally, GE will provide services including maintenance and repairs of the power generation equipment for 20 years.
