The electricity sector has been heavily damaged by the civil war. Approximately 150 000 km of transmission lines and 15 000 transformers have been damaged according to Sudan’s Energy Ministry. Power stations in Bahri, Garri, and Jebel Aulia have also been heavily damaged.

Siyuan Energy Company will conduct field assessments of war-damaged stations in Sudan and supply mobile transformer stations to provide rapid improvement of the grid.

Badr al-Din al-Fil, General Manager of Sudan’s state-owned National Engineering and Energy Company, said his firm would oversee implementation in accordance with technical requirements and agreed timelines.
