The project will integrate electricity, heat, and hydrogen production into a single system to support industrial sustainability and decarbonisation efforts.

The SPECTRUM Project is intended to unlock the full potential of solar energy by harnessing all parts of the solar spectrum. By combining PV, thermal, and hydrogen production technologies, the project will enable more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly energy solutions. SPECTRUM will use spectral splitting technology to optimise the conversion of solar energy into multiple energy vectors, significantly enhancing energy efficiency, while supporting the circular economy through industrial wastewater (IWW) treatment.

The project aims to:

  • Reduce industrial carbon footprints by integrating green hydrogen production and renewable energy sources.
  • Accelerate decentralised energy production, enhancing energy security.

Over the project’s 42 months, SPECTRUM will develop and validate prototypes of hybrid solar collectors, test their performance in real-world conditions, and assess their economic feasibility.
