South Korea’s KS Eco Solutions to develop 500 MW solar power in Zambia

Zambia’s Ministry of Information and Media has said that South Korea’s KS Eco Solutions plans to develop a 500 MW solar power project in ten phases, each phase consisting of a 50 MW generation unit.

The ministry said that financing discussions were being held with the Export Import Bank of Korea and the Korea Development Bank to support project implementation. The ministry said that there is an investment proposal for $700-900 million, although this proposal is currently at a discussion stage.

Andrew Banda, Zambia’s ambassador to South Korea, said engagement with South Korean investors has been ongoing and is now starting to yield tangible results. He described South Korea as a dependable partner with strong technical capacity to deliver large infrastructure projects.
