Slovakia has approved an agreement with the USA to develop a 1000 MW new nuclear power plant.
Robert Fico, Slovakia’s Prime Minister, announced the deal. He said that the reactor will be built at the existing Bohunice nuclear plant in western Slovakia and it will be fully state-owned. He said: “This project will be important not only for Slovakia but also for the whole of central Europe. We need new energy sources if we want to maintain competitiveness and respond to growing consumption.”
It has not been specified when the two governments will formally sign the deal.
