SK Innovation wins $2.3 billion Vietnam power plant contract

SK Innovation has been selected as the operator for a $2.3 billion LNG power plant project in Vietnam.

SK Innovation said the consortium it formed with PV Power , a power generation company under Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and Vietnam corporation NASU was selected by the Nghe An provincial government as the operator of the Quynh Lap LNG power project. The project is for a 1500 MW CCGT power plant, a 250 000 cubic metre LNG terminal, and a dedicated port in Quynh Lap, Nghe An province, 220 km south of Hanoi. Breaking ground is scheduled to start in 2027, with completion by 2030.

SK Innovation said that it is also considering expansion of operations to make the Quynh Lap LNG terminal a hub terminal that supplies gas to nearby power plants after its construction.
