Siemens Wind Power has received an order to supply 17 direct drive wind turbines for the Uljian onshore wind power plant in Gyeongsangbuk province on South Korea’s east coast. The customer is SK D&D;, a South Korean developer of real estate and renewable energy projects. The scope of supply includes the delivery and technical field assistance for the installation of 16 SWT-3.6-130 wind turbines on different towers ranging from 85-115m, and one SWT-3.0-108 on a 71m tower. Siemens was also contracted for full service and maintenance over 10 years, including the company’s remote monitoring and diagnostics services.

The site conditions of the coastal mountains in the Uljin region resulted in the need for different turbine hub heights. Installation is scheduled to start in 2018, with commissioning due later in that year.
