Siemens has launched its new E-series 2 MW gas engine. It includes both the SGW-86EM for the 50 Hz market and the SGE-100EM for the 60 Hz market. Siemens said that the new E-series has 12 cylinders, with a large volume per cylinder, and high displacement.
The E-series gas engine has a mechanical efficiency of 47 per cent, and an electrical efficiency of 45.4 per cent.
Siemens acquired Guascor engines and generator sets in 2015 as part of the Dresser-Ran product portfolio. The name of these engines now includes SGE, for Siemens Gas Engine. There are approximately 4700 Guascor engines currently operating in over 50 countries.
Eva Garmendia, Product Line Manager, said: “The new E-series engine offers a more compact and efficient alternative to the 2 MW engines available in the power generation market today. We can also offer one of the shortest lead times in the industry, with just 24 weeks from concept to delivery of a complete gen-set.”
