Siemens Gamesa will supply SG 4.5-145 for its first nearshore wind project in Vietnam

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured an order to supply seven SG 4.5-145 offshore wind turbines for No 5 Thanh Hai 1 wind farm, located 2-5 km off the Vietnamese coast. SGRE will also provide O&M services for the project for 10 years. This is SGRE’s first nearshore project in Vietnam. Commissioning of the 32MW No 5 Thanh Hai 1 wind farm is scheduled for mid-2020.

The order is the first use of this turbine model in Vietnam, and is the first agreement with Tan Hoan Cau JSC, a leading IPP in Vietnam specialising in hydro and wind power.

Conditionally, SGRE will supply seven more SG 4.5-145 units for the second phase of the project. The 60MW No 5 Thanh Hai 1 and 2 wind farms will be located in Thanh Hai commune, Ben Tre province.

The Vietnamese Government has established a target of 800MW of wind power installations by 2020, a large part of which will be in nearshore projects.
