Siemens Gamesa signs MOUs with 10 Taiwanese suppliers for offshore wind

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has signed 10 MOUs with suppliers in Taiwan to help develop the offshore wind supply chain in the country in line with helping it reach the Government’s goal of 5.5 GW of installed offshore capacity by 2025. The MOUs cover solutions for offshore wind turbine components including on machining, control systems, and coolers. Timelines have not been set for finalisation of the cooperation agreements.

The MOUs involve the following:

SGRE and AH Industries and YGG for machining for large steel and metal components.

SGRE and Jupiter Bach for the production of composites for wind turbine components such as canopy and spinners.

SGRE and KK Wind Solutions for control systems and converters.

SGRE and Nissens for cooling systems.

SGRE and RMG Steel for steel parts.

SGRE and SINBON Electronics and TA YA Electric Wire & Cable for low voltage cables harnessing.

SGRE and SINBON Electronics and Walsin Lihwa Corporation for low voltage cables harnessing.

SGRE and TECO Electric & Machinery for yaw motors.

SGRE and Walsin Lihwa for high voltage cables.

SGRE and Wuerth for C-parts and fasteners.

Each of the MOUs include, among other terms, the establishment or the use by suppliers of facilities in Taiwan, price competitiveness, as well as compliance to SGRE’s quality, health, safety and environment standards. SGRE will provide support and advice on technical qualifications, and ramping up activities for each supplier.
