Siemens Energy has won a $1.6 billion contract to provide core equipment for two Saudi gas-fired power plants – Rumah 2 and Nairyah 2 – located in the country’s western and central regions.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens Energy will supply: six SGT6-9000HL gas turbines, four SST6-5000 steam turbines, eight SGen6-3000W generators, two SGen6-2000P generators, and associated auxiliary equipment, with each site generating approximately 1.8 GW.
The two plants will replace aging oil-fired units. In addition, the plants will be compatible with CO2 capture and storage technologies.
The EPC contractor is Harbin Electric International . It has long-term maintenance agreements for 25 years.
Siemens Energy will manufacture the core components at its Dammam Hub.
