Siemens Energy has won a contract to supply power generation equipment for the Misfah and Duqm IPP projects in Oman, with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company serving as the offtaker for the generated electricity.
The projects are being developed by a consortium comprising Etihad Water and Electricity Company , Nebras Power Investment Management , Bahwan Infrastructure Services , and Korea Western Power . Doosan Enerbility and SEPCO-3 are responsible for the EPC of the plants.
Siemens Energy will supply six SGT5-4000F gas turbines, six SGen5-2000P generators with 20-year long-term service agreements for the two plants which will have a combined capacity of 2.6 GW.
Misfah is located in the Muscat Governorate, while the Duqm plant will be located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate, an industrial and logistics hub on the Arabian Sea coast.
Salim Al Aufi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, said: “The Misfah and Duqm projects reflect Oman’s commitment to building a resilient and future-ready energy system. By deploying advanced gas turbines with hydrogen co-firing capabilities, we are strengthening the reliability of electricity supply while supporting our long-term strategy to diversify the Sultanate’s energy mix.”
