Siemens Energy has signed an agreement with Mai-Liao Power to supply major equipment and long-term services for a 2400 MW CCGT in Taiwan.
The plant will consist of two units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW. The planned facility will replace 1800 MW coal-fired power generation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens Energy will supply four SGT6-9000HL gas turbines, along with generators, steam turbines, condensers, and additional auxiliary equipment.
The two units are scheduled to enter commercial operation by the end of 2029. Following the start of commercial operations, CO2 emissions are predicted to fall by 58 per cent per unit of delivered electricity compared to the current coal-fired units.
Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 14 TWh annually, about 5 per cent of Taiwan’s total power supply.
