The Saudi Arabian renewable energy developer ACWA Power has said that it will start construction this year on a 100 MW solar energy plant in South Africa. The 100 MW Redstone concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) plant will be located in the country’s Northern Cape Province.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Central Energy Fund of South Africa and ACWA Power will cooperate on the project.
Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power, said: “We are pleased to enter into this agreement, which further strengthens our efforts supporting South Africa’s renewable energy programme. We are committed to providing the country with the most advanced and versatile solar technology solutions which can efficiently and reliably produce clean energy throughout the 24-hour period if called upon to do so.”
