A consortium of Samsung C&T and Lilama Corporation has won a $1 billion EPC contract for Nhon Trach 3 and 4, which will be Vietnam’s first LNG-fired power plants.
The scope of the EPC package is the construction of two CCGTs with 1-1-1 configuration (1 gas turbine, 1 HRSG, 1 steam turbine). GE is providing a 9HA.02 gas turbine for the plant. Lilama said that the project will be completed within 36 months.
The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 project is located in Ong Keo Industrial Park, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province. It will supply electricity for Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Each unit will provide 750 MW (1500 MW combined) and are expected to be in operation by 2023-2024. These units will be the first in Vietnam to use LNG.
