Repsol has officially started electricity production at the 364 MW Antofagasta Phase 1, Repsol’s largest wind project to date and one of Chile’s biggest renewable installations. The facility is located in Taltal in the Antofagasta region, and involved investment of €400 million.
Repsol said in a statement: “This is the first renewable project developed entirely by Repsol in Chile. Renewable generation projects are one of the strategic pillars of Repsol’s energy transition process.”
The wind farm is scheduled to enter commercial operation in the coming weeks, following construction over 19 months. It is estimated that it will generate 750 GWh annually.
Repsol has started development of Phase 2 at the Antofagasta plant. Phase 2 will contribute an additional 450 MW. Both phases of the Antofagasta project are wholly owned by Repsol.
