A 120 MW PV power generation project has been connected to the grid and started supplying electricity in Tibet, according to China Huadian Corporation . The project is located in the Seni District in the city of Nagqu, at an average altitude of 4500 m above sea level.
China Huadian Corporation said that the project involved an investment of around $128 million and that it will be able to generate 247 GWh annually. It said that the project will save 76 300 tonnes of coal and eliminate 219 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. It also said that the project will provide stable electricity and boost local economic and social development.
