Shortages in electricity generation are threatening to cripple the industries of the Indian state of Rajasthan, as power companies have imposed 11-hour outages on all industries across the state.

According to C S Chandalia, Director of Power Trading Cell of Jaipur Vidyut Nigam, said that this will continue until the situation improves. He said: “Industries will not be supplied power from 7 pm to 6 am because of the worsening power crisis as two units of Chabbra thermal plant have been shut down. The crisis deepened as the shortfall of power increased when two units of the Chabbra plant were boxed down. These units together generate 500 MW.”
