Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, said: “Until the threat of tariffs is gone for good, Ontario won’t back down. We’ll stand strong, use every tool in our toolkit and do whatever it takes to protect Ontario.” He said that Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator had been instructed that any generator selling electricity to the US was now required to add a 25 per cent surcharge valued at C$10 per MWh to the cost of the power. This will generate revenue of C$300,000-400,000 per day.
