NTPC said that the approval is for a 50 MW project. The move is part of the company’s target of sourcing about 11 per cent of its planned capacity of 128 GW by 2032 from renewable energy. NTPC now accounts for about one-sixth of India’s total power generation capacity of over 300 GW.

NTPC also said that it wants to achieve 10 GW of solar power capacity, out of the 100 GW that the Indian Government plans to achieve by 2022.
