The State Government of Lagos in Nigeria has invited bids for IPPs to develop up to 4050 MW of gas-fired power plants in Lagos, Nigeria.
The tender is intended to tackle the city’s electricity shortfalls. Lagos State reported that it needs 6 GW to tackle the issue, but only receives 2 GW from the grid. Lagos State’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the minimum expected generating capability for each of four designated hubs would be 500 MW. The electricity can be generated by one or more firms, with a minimum required output of 100 MW from participating companies. Bids can be submitted until 22 November 2024.
