Mitsubishi wins order for 500 MW CCGT power plant in Sarawak

Mitsubishi Power has won an order for a gas turbine and a steam turbine for a 500 MW CCGT power plant in Sarawak, Malaysia. The order was awarded by the EPCC contractor for the project, Sinohydro Corporation .

In addition to supplying core equipment, Mitsubishi Power will provide auxiliary equipment and technical advisors to support the installation and commissioning of this equipment. The gas turbine will be designed to co-fire fuel containing up to 30 per cent hydrogen.

The plant will be located in Miri in northeast Sarawak, and is owned by PETROS Power . Mitsubishi Power has a Long-Term Service Agreement with PETROS to ensure the stable operational performance of the power plant following commercial operation.

The generators for the power plant will be manufactured by Mitsubishi Generator Co, formed in April 2024 with the integration of MHI and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s power generator systems businesses.
