Diamond Transmission (DTC), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi, has been selected as the preferred bidder for a new offshore transmission link in the UK. The transmission system will link the 353 MW Galloper offshore windfarm with the Sizewell substation. The Galloper windfarm is located nearly 30 km off the country’s eastern coast.
The £329.1 million contract includes subsea and land cables, and onshore and offshore substations. This is Mitsubishi’s seventh offshore transmission link project in the UK.
From the second quarter of 2019, Mitsubishi will execute the electricity transmission business from the link for two decades after acquisition of the asset and securing an Offshore Transmission Owner license from the UK’s Office of Gas and Electricity Markets.
