Last Energy of the USA has announced that it has received an offer of $103.7 million in debt financing from the US Government to set up the first of four planned micro-sized nuclear power plants in Britain.
Last Energy said it had received a letter of interest from the Export-Import Bank of the United States . The company said: “Upon final commitment, the Bank’s facility would cover Last Energy’s entire costs for a single power plant installation.”
Last Energy is planning to build four 20 MW micro-reactors at its site in Bridgend, south Wales. The first could be operational by 2027. It said that the plant could be used to power mid-sized industrial projects and data centres.
