Bahlil said: “Several countries have expressed interest in partnering with Indonesia to develop nuclear energy. We have prepared the roadmap, and by 2035 at the latest, Indonesia will have its first nuclear power plant.”

There will be two 250 MW units, one in Sumatra and one in Kalimantan. Bahlil said that Russia and Canada have formally indicated interest in joining the project and are currently front-runners. He said: “As long as there is a cooperative relationship with Indonesia and the partnership is mutually beneficial, we are open to collaboration with any country.”
