India will add 3100 MW hydropower generation capacity, built at a cost of $5.5 billion, this fiscal year, expanding the current installed capacity of 46.85 GW by 6.6 per cent.
These hydropower projects are in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Kerala.
Uttarakhand has two central sector projects: Tehri pumped storage project of 1000 MW and Naitwar Mori of 60 MW.
Subansiri Lower project in Arunachal Pradesh will have 1000 MW of the planned 2000 MW project commissioned this financial year.
There will be one central project (Parbatti II, 800 MW) and one private project (Tidong I, 150 MW) due to be commissioned in Himachal Pradesh.
There are two state sector projects scheduled for commissioning in Kerala (Pallivasal, 60 MW and Thottiyar, 40 MW).
