India’s Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has approved the siting of a new nuclear power site in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
Consent for the location of Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project has been given. The plant will feature four Indian-designed 700 MW PHWRs, to be located near the village of Napla in the Baswara district of Rajasthan. The AERB’s consent is valid for five years.
The Mahi Banswara plant will be developed under Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam (Ashvini), a joint venture between Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL, 51 per cent) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC, 49 per cent).
