Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that a cyber-attack ‘disrupted’ a nuclear power plant. He did not say how, when, or where the event took place, beyond the fact that it happened several years ago, and that the plant did not have to be shut down, several precautionary measures had to be taken.

Speaking in Germany, Amano said that the possibility of cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure, such as nuclear power plants, is “not an imaginary risk.” He added: “This issue of cyber-attacks on nuclear-related facilities or activities should be taken very seriously. We never know if we know everything ot if it is the tip of the iceberg.” He added that the IAEA was helping to train countries for these next-generation cyber-security. Threats.
