Hyosung Heavy Industries has won a contract to supply the core equipment for a Foz do Areia hydropower plant located in the state of Parana, Brazil. The contract is for six 500 kV extra-high voltage transformers, to be supplied to Andritz Hydro responsible for EPC at the plant.

Hyosung has also formed a technological alliance with Andritz Hydro through an MoU to develop a hybrid STATCOM to improve grid stability.
