Hitachi Energy has signed agreements worth €350 million with Enedis , France’s leading distribution system operator. The long-term agreements are for the delivery of distribution and power transformers to strengthen France’s electricity grid.

The agreements will also deliver transparency regarding environmental performance through an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) which assesses each product’s environmental performance across its lifecycle, combined with a continuous commitment to improving manufacturing performance throughout the contract term.

Phasing out fossil fuels is a climate and strategic goal for France. The target is to reduce the share of fossil fuels in France’s energy mix from 60 per cent to 40 per cent by 2030 through a massive shift towards electricity. A secure, long-term supply of transformers will enable Enedis to modernise the grid, manage growing demand, and ensure reliable power.
