APR Energy has announced that it will be using GE TM2500 mobile gas turbine gensets to provide new generation capacity to South Australia ahead of the summer. The agreement includes nine 30 MW GE TM2500 units, owned by APR Energy, that can provide over 250 MW once commissioned. The mobile and trailer-mounted TM2500 can be commissioned in days, and can ramp up to full power in minutes.

APR Energy will lead responsibility for developing the new generation capacity for SA Power Networks on behalf of the South Australian Government.

Geoff Culbert, President and CEO of GE Australia, said: “This is an important day for South Australia. South Australia is already a world leader in renewable energy generation, and our technology will complement these efforts.”
