GE Renewable Energy ’s Hydro division has signed a contract with SPIC Brasil to lead the modernisation of São Simão Hydroelectric Power Plant’s generating units and auxiliary services. The 1710 MW plant has six generating units and is located in Minas Geraus and Goiás.
The scope includes supply of the equipment for the turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems, along with the engineering and integration, assembly, and commissioning of the six units at São Simão. Powerchina will also be involved in the project, and will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical BOP systems, Digital Control System, and hydromechanics.
The project is scheduled to be completed in nine years.
