Duke Energy will build and operate three solar power plants in Kentucky, USA, and the energy will be delivered directly to customers. Construction is set to begin later this summer, with the majority of work expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
Two plants will be built in Kenton County. The Walton Solar Power Plant 1 and Walton Solar Power Plant will comprise 19,000 panels on 60 acres. They will have the capacity to produce over 4MW.
The Crittenden Solar Power Plant will be located in Grant County on a 110 acre site. The solar array will include 12,500 panels, and will generate over 2.7 MW.
The three solar projects will supply electricity to the grid.
Duke also has plans to build projects in South Carolina, but to date, nothing specific has been announced.
