State-owned Coal India has signed an agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India to set up a total of 1000 MW of solar power plants in different parts of the country. India’s Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal said: “Coal India (CIL) has signed an MOU with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to install 1000 MW of solar power plants in solar parks in different parts of India including Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, to be identified by SECI, in a phased manner.”
Goyal also said that CIL has already installed 2.2 MW of solar power projects in two of its subsidiaries, 2 MW in Mahanadi Coalfields, and 0.2 MW in the Central Mine Planning & Design Institute, to curb carbon emissions.
