CIB invests C$118 million in Nova Scotia wind power project

Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has agreed a C$118 million loan to support construction of the 94.4 MW Weavers Mountain wind power project in Antigonish and Pictou counties, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The project will involve 16 Nordex turbines with anti-icing technology. It will assist Nova Scotia achieve its target of sourcing 80 per cent of its energy from renewables by 2030 and cutting 90 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation. The plant is scheduled to enter commercial operations in late 2026.

A majority stake in the project will be held by Glooscap First Nation in a joint venture with SWEB Development .

The CIB loan will be repaid using the revenues generated from a PPA with Nova Scotia Power .
