The first generating unit of the Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station in Zhejiang province in east China has been connected to the grid and put into operation.
The project comprises four generating units of 425 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 1.7 GW.
When fully operational, the plant will support peak shaving, valley filling, frequency and voltage regulation, energy storage and emergency backup for the Zhejiang power grid.
