Mexico’s Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has announced 37 new energy awards with a total of 7411 MW in solar PV and wind power generation assets in priority regions across the country.
CFE announced the results of its first hybrid development model bidding round, which awarded 37 new energy projects with a total installed capacity of 7411 MW. The awards include 6.71 GW of solar PV power generation and 700 MW of wind power generation.
There were 222 project applications, with a total declared capacity of approximately 38 GW, exceeding the bidding capacity by 581 per cent. About 80 developers participated, with 37 projects being approved. The Yucatan Peninsula and northeastern Mexico became key areas, with 20 of the 37 projects being located in these two regions.
Under Mexico’s 2025 energy reform model, CFE must hold at least 54 per cent in the awarded projects. Final investment decisions will require approval from the CFE board.
