Brazil’s Growth Acceleration Programme (PAC) is supporting 474 energy-related projects, involving a total investment of $47 billion.
These include projects involving power generation and transmission, low-carbon fuels, universal access to electricity, and energy efficiency projects, These projects are in the preparatory action, tender, or execution phase.
Most of the investments ($43 billion) are private. These include:
113 power transmission projects with a total investment of $16.4 billion. The project with the highest capex ($2.3 billion) is the 1494 km transmission line Graça Aranha-Silvânia, which is being built by State Grid.
207 power generation projects with a total investment of $9.2 billion. These include the construction of the Portocém thermal power plant by New Fortress Energy and the modernisation of the Angra 1 nuclear power plant.
