BHEL wins 600 MW power plant contract in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGenco) has awarded Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) an order for a 600 MW thermal power project in Andhra Pradesh.

"Valued at Rs 1445 crore ($321 million), the contract envisages setting up a 1x600 MW thermal power generating unit for APGenco's upcoming coal-based thermal power project, located at Rayalaseema in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh," BHEL said in a statement.

The Rayalaseema thermal power project is already equipped with five 210 MW BHEL-built units.

The latest contract entails design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers.

"In Andhra Pradesh, BHEL is also currently executing orders for three more thermal units, which will generate 1700 MW of power on commissioning," the statement said.

BHEL, a leading power equipment maker, currently has the capability to deliver 15 000 MW per annum and further expansion of resources to reach 20 000 MW per annum is underway.
